This section contains a research paper written by Karen Shaw, a student in a psychology class. Shaw's assignment was to write a "review of the literature" paper using APA-style documentation. The in-text citations and list of references included in Shaw's paper follow the guidelines set forth by the APA (American Psychological Association) in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition.
In preparing her final manuscript, Shaw followed the APA guidelines. She did not include an abstract because her instructor did not require one.
